Technical Training

Day 1 — Morning
  1. Introduction
  • Introduction of participants and evaluation of current skill level.
  • Explore participants' expectations of the training.
  • Brief overview of topics to be covered.
  • Review of goal setting, and responsibility.
  • Review of environmental and human hazards.
  • Facilitator preparation and planning.
  • Sequencing of activities.
  • Real risk vs. perceived risk (where are the real dangers).

Day 1 — Afternoon
  1. Low Ropes Challenge Course
  • Safety hazards of specific elements.
  • Spotting procedures for elements.
Day 2 — Morning
  1. High Ropes Challenge Course
  • Participation.
  • Belay and set up instruction.
Day 2 — Afternoon
  1. Final Review
  2. Ropes Course Routine Safety Inspection
  3. Evaluation

Although this training is primarily technical in nature, processing and behavior issues will be discussed as they relate to safety. A low ropes challenge course procedures manual will be given to all participants.
